This Sunday October 22nd at 2:00pm the Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg (WMC) will be presenting a concert called “The Slavic Soul.” The Concert takes place at CMU’s Laudamus Auditorium and will feature two musicians that are very familiar to Winnipeg Audiences, cellist Paul Marleyn and Madeline Hildebrand.  

This week, soprano Zohreh Gervais and pianist Lisa Rumpel open the Skywalk Concert Series with a program inspired by the lasting impression music makes on the mind and the fascinating connection between the two fields.   

For 100 years, the Winnipeg Youth Orchestras (WYO) have been providing young, aspiring Manitoba musicians with the opportunity to play symphonic music.  

This past weekend was a busy one for choirs across our region.

Shannon Sawatzky from the Eastman Choral Association says their Eastman Youth Choir went on their tour this weekend. 

“We set off Thursday morning for our first concert. We did a day of school tours and wrapped up on Sunday. 13 performances in four days.” 

They had 54 kids in the choir this year, which is an incredible amount. 

“I've been involved in that for 19 years and this is the biggest choir we've had since I started, so it's really cool to see the explosion of interest in our region.” 

Virtuosi Concerts opens their 2023/24 season by welcoming the charismatic and compelling Canadian cellist Stéphane Tétreault, joined in concert by pianist Sandra Murray.  

This Wednesday, October 11th at 7:30pm at Westworth United Church, Winnipeg’s GroundSwell will kick off their 2023-24 Season with a concert called “With Glow and Abandon.”

On Friday, October 6, 2023, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra issued a press release announcing a deficit of $1 million dollars.
