Kids Helping Kids-Manitoba Registered Music Teachers Association Musicthon 2023

This weekend, Saturday, March 4th and Sunday, March 5th, the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers’ Association (MRMTA) will be hosting their annual Kids Helping Kids Musicthon. This is an event that is now in its 34th year… The main purpose is to raise money for music programs for disadvantaged youth and give back to the Winnipeg community.

The iconic ‘Brill Building’ sound at Music N Mavens

On Thursday afternoon, the Rady JCC in Winnipeg transforms into New York’s Brill Building when music director Phil Corrin takes the stage in the latest Music N Mavens daytime concert.  

Filled with songwriters, musicians, publishers, engineers, promoters and more, the Brill Building was a one-stop-shop music shop that helped shape the sound of pop music.  

“Anybody who was anybody in American pop music was associated with the Brill Building,” says Phil Corrin.  

Imposter Syndrome: Juno-Nominated Jazz singer Barbra Lica performs this Saturday

This Saturday, March 4th, at 8:00pm the West End Cultural Centre will be welcoming to the stage, Juno nominated singer-songwriter vocalist Barbra Lica.

Known for her fun, thoughtful lyrics and beautiful, unique voice, Barbra Lica has established herself as a fixture on the North American jazz circuit. She has performed in New York at the iconic Birdland, and Toronto’s’ Koerner Hall. Lica has headlined at Jazz festivals throughout the world such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Vancouver Jazz Festival and Tokyo International Jazz Festival.

Celebrating the unsung heroes: Manitoba Opera set to induct inaugural “Chorus Hall of Fame” members

Manitoba Opera fetes 50 years this weekend with an anniversary concert at the Centennial Concert Hall. 

Featuring a stellar roster of internationally acclaimed artists, the evening promises to be a spectacular celebration of the grandest of art forms.  

A beloved and integral part of any opera is the chorus. The group of singers that commit to many roles and emotions – often reflecting, enhancing and heightening the drama taking place on stage.
