St. Peter's Library invites everyone to an afternoon tea

There’s nothing like a spot of tea on a lovely summer day, especially when you can gather outside.  

St. Peter’s Library welcomes everyone to attend a special Tea Party on Tuesday, July 15 from 2 – 4 pm at St. Peter’s College, 100 College Drive in Muenster.  

If the weather permits, the gathering will be outside Michael Hall. If the weather is less agreeable, the event will move into the library. 

Craik and Watrous RCMP dealing with a string of break and enter crimes

A rash of break and enters has Watrous and Craik RCMP detachments working together, and they are asking for the public’s help.  

On the Morning of July 9, 2025, between the hours of 2:00 am and 4:30 am, the town of Imperial was targeted by a series of break and enters. The thieves targeted garages and vehicles that were left unlocked. The RCMP is asking if anyone has surveillance footage in and around the area of Imperial during the hours when the crimes were committed. 

New Democrats continue to press the government on rural healthcare disruptions

Saskatchewan’s New Democrats continue to accuse the Sask Party Government of fostering a healthcare environment in rural communities that is “unreliable and dangerous.” 

A release from the NDP lists the communities that have experienced closures and disruptions over the past two weeks. They include Watrous, Edam, St. Walburg, Paradise Hill, Kipling, Broadview, Herbert, Porcupine Planes, Preeceville, Shellbrook, Leader and Arcola. 

Marea Olafson, Wesk Rural Ambassador, continues to foster community and creativity in Saskatchewan

Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK) has been appointed Marea Olafson, owner of Freba Pottery and Elemental Claycation, as the Rural Ambassador for Dafoe and surrounding areas for a second consecutive year. Olafson is one of seven ambassadors province-wide, all working to empower and connect women-led businesses in rural Saskatchewan. 

Canada to 'align' with U.S. airport screening rules as TSA drops shoes-off policy

Ottawa says it will work to align its flight security regulations with those in the U.S. after Washington dropped a rule that required passengers to remove their shoes during security screenings.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Tuesday that passengers at American airports no longer need to remove their shoes because officials have found other ways to keep travellers safe.

Canada does not require passengers flying domestically or to non-U.S. destinations to take off their shoes for screening, unless a security officer decides it's necessary.

Wisconsin and Minnesota Republicans call on Canada to curb wildfire smoke

Six Republican lawmakers have sent a letter to Canada's ambassador calling for action on the wildfires sending smoke billowing across the international border into their states.

In a Tuesday letter to Ambassador to the U.S. Kirsten Hillman, representatives Tom Tiffany, Brad Finstad, Tom Emmer, Michelle Fischbach, Glenn Grothman and Pete Stauber of Wisconsin and Minnesota said their constituents are coping with suffocating smoke from Canadian wildfires.

Fire ban to be issued on Thursday morning for northern area of Saskatchewan

From their latest update on Wednesday afternoon, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency says that a fire ban will be issued at 8:00 am on Thursday, July 10, encompassing the area north of the provincial forest boundary, up to the Churchill River.   

The ban is being issued due to high fire activity and extreme fire risk.  

From Prairie Roads to the Big Screen: Dan Torwalt's old Rambler set to appear in an upcoming movie

It’s not a DeLorean, but a car formerly owned by Humboldt resident Dan Torwalt will be travelling back in time on the big screen.  

His old Rambler will soon be appearing in the movie “November 1963”, which is currently filming in Winnipeg. The movie focuses on the Kennedy assassination and the crime groups involved. 

Torwalt said he originally bought the car back in 2007 in a real estate listing transaction.
