Portage's Andrew Collier continuing to make waves for the Winnipeg Goldeyes
Manitoba baseball legend and Portage la Prairie's Andrew Collier recently expanded his impressive resume.
Collier has served as the General Manager of the Winnipeg Goldeyes for the past 23 seasons. On September 16, he was honoured with the American Association Executive of the Year Award. Previously, he received the award in 2014 from the American Association and in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2009 in the Northern League.
He told PortageOnline that he is always honoured to receive such high praise, but it isn't an individual accolade.
Prairie Fusion struggles to recover post-COVID, seeks community support ▶️
Portage la Prairie’s Prairie Fusion Arts and Entertainment is still working to recover from the impact of COVID-19 and the restrictions placed on their programming. Executive Director Lorna Knight says the centre holds significant value in the community, and they don't want to see that disappear.

Accidents and intersections.
It's an issue Manitoba has dealt with at numerous spots along the Trans-Canada highway. Some see more accidents than others and the volume of traffic is often coincides with number of collisions and close calls.
While some are uncontrolled and have stop signs only for those entering the main thoroughfare, medians can vary in size, some have turning lanes, some have roundabouts while others have stop lights or an overpass.
Teulon man remains in critical condition after rollover near Roland
An 88 year old male from Teulon was sent to hospital with life threatening injuries after a single vehicle collision Friday night at the corner of Highway 23 and PR 428 near Roland. RCMP, Roland Fire Department and STARS responded to the scene.
The rollover was reported at 7:55 p.m., with Pembina Valley RCMP officers from the Morden detachment attending.
According to RCMP, it appears the driver was not aware the road (PR 428) came to an end and collided with the embankment.

A 14-year-old girl from Long Plain First Nation is reported missing since September 30, 2024, at about 11:25 a.m.
Kenzie Demach is believed to be in Portage la Prairie. Police and family are concerned for her well-being.
She's described as 5’6” tall, 100 pounds, with black, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.
Rotary’s veggie sale continues tradition of supporting Portage’s local projects
One of the Rotary Club of Portage la Prairie's largest fundraising efforts is underway.
The annual Rotary Veggie Sale starts on October 2, and continues through October 5. Press Relations Director Preston Meier says it's been a longstanding tradition for the club, as this is the 46th veggie sale the club has put on, not missing a year in the process.
MFNPS ask for public's help to find missing 13-year-old Long Plain Boy
Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) is seeking the public's help locating 13-year-old Cameron Joshua Bone from Long Plain First Nation.
His family reported him missing on September 28th, stating that they hadn't seen him in about two weeks. Although Bone has been in contact with his girlfriend via Snapchat, he has not disclosed his whereabouts. Family members are worried about his safety and have been informed that he may be in Portage la Prairie, Winnipeg, Brandon, or Thompson.
Westpark School's music program hits all the right notes
Westpark School is hitting all the right notes when it comes to its music program, attracting students eager to express themselves through music and worship. Joshua Bater, the school's Grade 5 to 12 music teacher, leads the program with passion and dedication.
"The worship band is a great opportunity for students in Grades 9 to 12. They audition for a chance to join where they can play instruments like drums, guitar, and keys, or sing. We rehearse every other day and perform at monthly chapels, plus we host two concerts a year."
