After several months on the run, four cows from a herd of runaway cattle were captured on Saturday night in St-Sévère, Que. 

The regional chapter of the Union des producteurs agricoles says the cows were transported back to their original farm on Sunday morning. 

Specialists examined the cows after their capture and confirmed the animals were in good shape. 

The union says weather conditions over the last few days prevented the entire herd from being captured, so another operation will take place soon to catch seven or eight animals that remain at large. 

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed linebacker Kyrie Wilson to a one-year contract extension. 

Wilson returns for his sixth season in Winnipeg after his 2022 campaign was cut short when he sustained an Achilles injury in a Week 4 win over Toronto. 

He had 17 defensive tackles, one special-teams tackle and a sack before the injury.

Wilson’s best season statistically came in 2019, when he started all 18 games and finished third on the club in defensive plays. 

Vladislav Shilo had a goal and an assist as the Winnipeg Ice snapped the Regina Pats' four-game win streak with a 6-1 victory on Sunday.

Graham Sward, Skyler Bruce, Evan Friesen, Aiden Oiring and Owen Pederson also scored for Winnipeg (25-4-0), which won its third straight. Daniel Hauser made 19 saves.

Tanner Howe replied for Regina (16-13-1-1). Kelton Pyne stopped 34 shots.

The Ice got going early with Oiring opening the scoring 1:58 into the game and Winnipeg went on to take a 4-0 lead 8:28 into the second period. 

Police say an inmate from a Manitoba jail who escaped during a medical escort assaulted three guards, pushed a motorist out of the driver's seat and then smashed a vehicle into six others during 17 minutes of freedom.

Guards were escorting the inmate back to the Brandon Correctional Centre in Brandon, Man., from the city's hospital on Monday afternoon when police allege he refused to enter the prisoner transport vehicle and kept walking.

Wade Miller knew he was talking to a winner when he first interviewed Mike O’Shea in 2013.

The party has laid out the rules for the campaign to replace James Beddome, who announced in the spring he would not seek another term.

Party members are to vote online and by mail-in ballot, and leadership hopefuls have to put up a $200 entry fee.

Candidates have until Feb. 24 to sign up members eligible to vote in the contest.

The Greens have never won a seat in the legislature but have seen their vote share increase since Beddome became leader in 2008.

An official at the children's hospital in Winnipeg says the number of patients has dropped in recent days, but there are still concerns about the effects of the flu this winter.

Dr. Karen Gripp, the medical director of the hospital's emergency department, says the department is now seeing an average of 146 patients a day, down from an average of 170 in November.

She says Manitoba may be near the peak of respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, but flu cases are still rising.

Winnipeg police have released more details about their decision to not search a landfill for the remains of two Indigenous women believed to have been the victims of a serial killer as family of one of the women shared their disappointment at Parliament Hill. 

Police say they believe the remains of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran ended up in the Prairie Green landfill north of the city in the spring.

On Dec. 6, 1989, a man motivated by a hatred of feminists shot and killed 14 female students and injured 13 other people at the Montreal engineering school.
