Melting temperatures return as above average weather continues

You could feel it as soon as you walked out the door this morning, the air just felt like it was going to be one of those unusually warm early winter days, and that’s exactly what we’re expecting.

"Daytime highs 12 to 15 degrees above average are expected today," said CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. "We’re heading toward +3 to +5 across Southern Manitoba, with the warmest conditions expected in the Red River Valley. Averages, right now, are around -9."

EPS weekend report: thefts, unauthorized taxi operation, 29-year-old arrested

A 29-year-old woman spent Sunday night behind bars following a report of a disturbance in the Royal Heights part of town, according to the Estevan Police Service.

This incident was one of more than a dozen matters the EPS reported dealing with over the weekend.

Police said they arrested the woman for breaching her release conditions and mischief to property. They planned to keep her in cells until she could appear in court on Monday.

Food price increases for 2024 will be lower than in previous years

Canada’s Food Price Report 2024 is forecasting another increase but it's not expected to be as bad as in other years.

According to the report the average family of four is expected to spend $16,297.20 on food in 2024, an increase of up to $701.79 from last year. 

The report is a collaboration between researchers at Dalhousie University, the University of Guelph, the University of Saskatchewan, and the University of British Columbia. 

Dr Sylvain Charlebois is the project lead, a professor, and Director of the Agri-Food Analytics Lab at Dalhousie University.
