Jets for life? Scheifele and Hellebuyck sign 7-year extensions
Winnipeg Jets fans had a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving Monday with an announcement that caught many by surprise.
The Winnipeg Jet Hockey Club announced on Monday that they have agreed to terms with both forward Mark Scheifele and goaltender Connor Hellebuyck on identical seven-year contract extensions with an average annual value of $8,500,000. Both of their seven-year contract extensions will begin in the 2024-25 season.
750 Thanksgiving meals served at Siloam Mission
Siloam Mission hosted their annual Thanksgiving meal, Fri. Oct. 6 serving up to 750 meals to those experiencing homelessness and poverty.
Dozens of volunteers worked together to serve a traditional Thanksgiving feast ahead of the holiday. The sit-down meal included turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, cranberry sauce, mixed veggies and pie.
Tessa Blaikie Whitecloud, CEO of Siloam Mission, said how important it was to put together.

Ethics Commissioner announces new disclosure rules for MLAs
Manitoba's MLAs have a new set of rules to disclose potential conflicts of interest with their work and personal finances.
All members of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly must follow new disclosure requirements in The Conflict of Interest (Members and Ministers) Act. The act came into force on Oct. 4, 2023.
The act requires all MLAs to disclose all assets, liabilities and sources of income with a value over $5,000 for themselves and any spouse and dependants (subject to some exceptions).

Traffic stop leads to trafficking and weapons charges against pair from Estevan
The Estevan Police Service reported that a Saturday night traffic stop of a vehicle in the downtown area resulted in charges against two people from Estevan.
Police charged 27-year-old Zack Elund with:
- Trafficking Cocaine
- Trafficking Fentanyl
- Possessing of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000 (Canadian Currency)
- Possession of Weapons for Dangerous Purpose
- Operation (motor vehicle) while prohibited
And 29-year-old Angella Chouinard was charged with:

Giana Denora has been playing soccer for a decade and half. Considering that she’s just begun her Grade 12 year at Dakota Collegiate in Winnipeg, that’s nearly 90% of her life.
