With around five centimeters of light fluffy snow yesterday, just how much we’ve had so far this week continues to creep upward, and according to the forecast, we’re not done with the snow yet.

After an early morning round of a few centimeters of wet, sticky snow, driving conditions have been less than optimal for the entire day. As of 5:30 p.m. Monday evening, the Sun Valley Tire road report for the Pembina and Red River Valleys indicated all highways in the region were either ice or party ice and/or snow covered. Visibility was reported as good, with the at times gusty northwesterly winds, having started to back off.

The vacation from winter will soon be over for Southern Manitoba. After nearly an entire month of above to well above average temperatures, what winter is usually like will be back in our region by this coming weekend. Before that, though, multiple chances of snowfall and several more days of warm weather.

A new tribute of recognition has been unveiled at St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan.

The Carson Family Atrium is now featured within the main entrance of the hospital, as a sign of appreciation for years of support for Ron Carson and his family.

The tribute has photos of Ron and Shirley Carson, along with a quote from the family on why they chose to support St. Joseph's over the years.

The Winnipeg Ice had a dominant victory in Saskatchewan on Wednesday evening, keeping their opponents to just one goal and under 20 shots on net.

The Ice skated to an 8-1 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders thanks to Zach Benson and Connor McClennon each getting a goal and three assists.

Carson Lambos scored twice, while singles came from Carson Latimer, Conor Geekie, Easton Armstrong and Ty Nash as the Ice improved their record to 31-5-1.

Nash led the Ice with six shots on goal as they outshot Prince Albert 39-16.

Emergency crews are on scene of a large fire at an apartment building on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters we called to the scene around 4:45 a.m. to a building in the 0-100 block of Gertie St. The incident was reported by on-duty members of the Winnipeg Police Service.

The Winnipeg Police Service say the building is vacant. However, the large blaze is causing concern for neighbouring buildings.

With temperatures well above average for this time of year, and a low pressure system to our south pumping warm, moist air into the region, we're beginning the week foggy and icy throughout much of Southern Manitoba.

Environment Canada has issued a Freezing Drizzle Advisory has been issued for all of western Manitoba, as far east as the Pilot Mound and Manitou regions.

The Estevan Police Service believe that a supply of fentanyl in town may be present, with “high potency.”

City police issued a public-safety advisory Friday afternoon to alert the public of the drug’s likely presence. 

The Winnipeg Jets are continuing their high-flying ways earning their sixth win in seven games on Thursday night.

The Jets took on the Sabres in Buffalo and bounced back strong after a 7-5 loss in Detroit on Tuesday night. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck had allowed six goals in that match up, but you would have had no idea watching him play just two nights later.

"He was outstanding tonight," coach Rick Bowness said to reporters after the game. "He was the difference maker."

The two top teams in the Canadian Hockey League went beyond 60 minutes Wednesday night at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena to decide their lone regular season matchup.

Nico Myatovic's 15th goal of the season at 3:26 of overtime gave the Seattle Thunderbirds a 4-3 decision over the Winnipeg ICE.

Matthew Savoie scored twice for Winnipeg, his 16th and 17th, while Conor Geekie added his 18th. Savoie's first of the night opened the scoring 2:39 into the game. Geekie's goal with 5:21 remaining in regulation forced overtime.
