A snow squall warning remains in effect for parts of the eastern side of Lake Winnipeg as the first taste of winter weather arrives.

Canada’s 2022 Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection season is underway, and CHVN will be back bigger and better than ever at St. Vital Centre during this year's national collection week.

Individuals, families, churches, businesses, sports teams, and community groups are now packing shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items, plus personal notes and photos, to be delivered to children in need around the world.

Firefighters in Winnipeg were kept busy Thanksgiving weekend, being called to several house fires.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) says in a release that they were called to five residential fires beginning on Sunday evening and ending Monday morning.

The first fire was in a single-storey home in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue. Crews were called around 5:45 p.m. 

Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in Winnipeg on Sunday evening involving a pedestrian.

The Winnipeg Police Service says that a man at the centre of a silver alert has been safely located.

The WPS had put out a request for assistance in locating the 73-year-old man early Sunday. They said he was last seen in the area of Portage Ave. and Spence St. in the City of Winnipeg on Saturday, October 08, 2022, at approximately 10:00 AM.

The WPS sent out a notification just after 2:30 p.m. to say he had been found.

The Winnipeg Police Service activates a silver alert when a vulnerable adult person is reported as missing.

We woke up Friday morning to the first widespread, killing frost of the season. Right across Southern Manitoba, temperatures dipped well below freezing for several hours ending the growing season for farmers and gardeners alike. An area of high pressure over the region kept the sky clear and winds light, the perfect combination to bring about a frosty morning.

An elderly woman is back home safe and sound after going missing on Tuesday.

Police had sent out a silver alert for a missing 81-year-old woman just before midnight on Tuesday evening. The woman had last been seen in the Booth area of Winnipeg earlier in the day around 4:30 p.m.

Approximately one hour after sending out the alert the WPS then notified the media that the woman had been safely located.

The Saskatchewan government hopes to prevent suicides by collecting unused and expired medication.

The Pharmacy Association of Saskatchewan launched a public awareness campaign on Friday encouraging people to return extra meds to local pharmacies. The province is providing $350,000 toward the program.

Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors and Rural and Remote Health Minister Everett Hindley said the province is happy to support the Pharmacy Association in the campaign.

The West Perimeter Highway was reopened mid-afternoon after a serious collision sent two people to hospital and closed the highway for several hours.

The Manitoba RCMP says in a release that recovery crews were assisting a jackknifed semi in the northbound lanes of the highway at Portage Ave. when the collision occurred around 6:20 a.m.

Five people remain in police custody and face a long list of charges after a crime spree in Winnipeg and Winkler.

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) says they were called to a store in the Polo Park area on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 22. Security officers at the store took two of the men into custody after allegedly finding them taking merchandise, removing security tags, and then attempting to return them.

Officers who attended and arrested the two men say they discovered "unlawfully-possessed identity documents" as well as meth.
