EPS update: 450 vehicles checked for impairment, theft of recyclables, and suspicious border activity

Over 450 vehicles were checked at SGI high-visibility check stops Friday night in Estevan, and police located zero impaired drivers.

The Estevan Police Service reported that 20 roadside screening tests were performed. Three tickets were issued for other offences.

3-year-old dies after being struck by vehicle

A 3-year-old boy is dead after he was hit by a vehicle that was backing up in a farmyard.

The Manitoba RCMP says in a release that officers from the Pembina Valley RCMP received a report Wednesday evening of an unresponsive toddler at a farm located approximately 11 kilometres southwest of Roland, Manitoba.

Officers say that the initial investigation has determined that boy had wandered away from a group of children when he was struck by a pickup truck that had been backing up at the time of the collision.

Man arrested after teen boy sexually assaulted

A Winnipeg man is facing several charges after police allege that he sexually assaulted a teenage boy in early March.

The Winnipeg Police Service says in a release that they received a report of a 16-year-old male that had been sexually assaulted in the Inkster Gardens area on March 8.

The teenager had left a bus stop near Old Commonwealth Path and Doctor Jose Rizal Way when he was approached by an unknown male who started an inappropriate conversation and repeatedly fondled him before leaving.

Project Divergent: 22 arrested, $70M in drugs seized after Manitoba RCMP drug investigation goes international

Almost two dozen people are facing several charges after a massive investigation led to a large network involved in importing drugs and guns into Manitoba. Police are also asking for help in locating two men wanted in connection to the investigation.

The Manitoba RCMP says the investigation began in 2018 after an RCMP criminal analyst noticed some trends regarding the international importation of drugs into Canada. "When investigators realized they were onto a large-scale domestic operation, Project Divergent was born," a press release from the RCMP says.

25-year-old Estevan man charged with trafficking meth and ketamine

An Estevan man facing several trafficking charges has been released by a Justice of the Peace and will appear in court in early May.

The Estevan Police Service announced they arrested 25-year-old Brandon Tremblay on Saturday. He was found with substances believed to be methamphetamine and ketamine.

This came as a result of an investigation involving members of the EPS and the Estevan Police K9.

Province announces changes to campsite booking system ahead of April 4 launch

The Manitoba government says it's made improvement's to the province's online campground reservation system but the opposition predicts Manitobans will once again be left camping out online for hours trying to book a space.

Reservations for Manitoba’s provincial park campgrounds, yurts, cabins and group-use areas will begin on April 4 with expanded staggered launch dates and technical improvements for easier site bookings, Environment, Climate and Parks Minister Jeff Wharton announced on Monday.

Amber Alert cancelled, suspect in custody: RCMP

RCMP say that an Amber Alert for two kidnapped children and their mother is now over.

Mounties say that a suspect is in custody and two young kids and their mother who were at the centre of the alert are safe.

The alert was first issued earlier on Saturday, March 26, by RCMP in British Columbia. Mounties there allege that a 36-year-old man kidnapped a woman and her two young children. The woman and kids hadn't been seen since March 24.
