Tom Shelly

Thomas William Shelly of Moose Jaw, SK passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025 at the age of 72. Tom was born at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, SK on July 20, 1952. Tom was a quiet and deeply intelligent man. He attended school in Willow Bunch and began farming in the mid-1960s. He took great pride in working with his polled Hereford cattle, which like him, were very quiet by nature.

Werner Stark

Werner Stark

Werner Stark passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 3, 2025 at the Assiniboia Union Hospital Integrated Care Facility at the age of 95.  Exactly, 1 year after the passing of his dear wife, Irene.

Werner was born in the Valor District to Rudolf and Pauline Stark.  He was the third of four boys – Rudy, Harry and later Norman.  Werner was their first child born in Canada.  Soon after, the family moved to the “Home Place” Southeast of Mossbank where Norman was born.

Dennis Stark

The families and friends of Dennis Stark are profoundly saddened to announce his passing March 6, 2025 at Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw, SK. Dennis was born Dec. 5, 1965 in Assiniboia, SK and grew up in Mossbank, SK, all of his life.  From an early age, Dennis was nicknamed “Dennis The Menace”. Dennis was later nicknamed “Baker” when working at the Noodle Plant. Dennis also worked at the Mossbank Rink, working for the RM, Fire Chief from 2003-2008, and was involved in the Kinsmen as President for 10 years. Dennis and Crystal moved to the farm 2008 and loved many Cats and Dogs.

Marj Linn

Marj Linn

Marjorie Evelyn (nee Ireland) Linn of Mossbank, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 27, 2024, at the Assiniboia Union Hospital. She was 89 years old.

Marj was born on June 13, 1935, on the family farm in the Mossbank district, the youngest child of Josiah "Sye" and Evelyn (née Harris) Ireland. She grew up on the farm, attended Center Ridge School, and completed her education in Mossbank.

Noel Blanchette

 

Noel Blanchette

Noel Blanchette passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, in Moose Jaw, SK. Noel was born on December 13, 1929, in Gravelbourg, SK. He lived and farmed in the Courval district for 85 years. Noel married Jeannine O’Reilly of Scout Lake, SK, on July 18, 1959, at St. Victor, SK. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last month. They were blessed with five children: Gilbert, Richard, Denis, Suzanne, and René.

Blanche Aline Lasante (Lafrance)

It is with sad hearts that we announce that our Mom passed away peacefully at The Meadows in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, on Saturday, June 1st, 2024. Blanche was born on March 25, 1933. She was 91 years young. She was raised in Dollard, SK. She grew up with her mom Delima, dad Paul, and 5 sisters: Lucille, Jeanne, Edna, Yvonne, and Irene. She then moved to Ponteix to take her Grade 12. It was there after graduating that she began working at The Royal Bank. It was through the Catholic Youth Club that she met Art and fell in love. They were married on April 14, 1955.

Dale Rodger Reader

Dale Rodger Reader was born on September 21, 1948, in Lafleche, SK to Harry and Helen Reader. Dale attended Woodrow Public School and Lafleche Central High School graduating in 1967. He then attended Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw, where he completed a Certificate in Automotive Repair. After completing the certificate Dale returned to Woodrow, alongside his Dad to farm and raise cattle.

Levi Heinrichs

Levi Heinrichs passed away peacefully at the Special Care Home in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan., on May 28, 2024, at the age of 97 years. Levi was born on April 7, 1927, on the family farm NW-22-14-06 W3 Shamrock, Saskatchewan. He was the eighth of ten children born to Peter and Susanna Heinrichs. He attended Bolingbroke School, walking two and a half miles each day with his siblings and neighbourhood friends, braving the elements with a resilience that marked his entire life.

Irene Stark

Irene Stark (nee Cooling) of Mossbank passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the age of 82 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born on December 27, 1941 in the Witchekan District, near Leoville, Saskatchewan to Lucy & George Cooling.  She was the fourth of five children – Myrtle, Albert, Lorne and later Brenda.  She moved to Mossbank where she attended school.  She lived in the Nurse’s Residence with her Mom and sister Brenda, while her mother worked as a cook at the Hospital.  They then moved to the house where Gramma Hutchinson lived.

Ken Kornaga

Funeral for the late Ken Kornaga of Glen Bain, SK will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Our Lady of the Assumption CoCathedral in Gravelbourg, SK. Rev. Janelle Shaw Officiant.

Private Family interment will follow.

The family have requested that (in lieu if flowers) tributes to the late Ken Kornaga be made to Glen Bain Lions Club & Glencaid United Church.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapel - Assiniboia & Gravelbourg.
