With traffic expected to ramp up over the summer months, Alberta RCMP is reminding motorists to stay alert and drive safely — especially when sharing the road with large commercial vehicles.

From semi-trucks and tractor-trailers to buses and heavy haulers, commercial vehicles require extra space and attention, RCMP said in a traffic safety bulletin issued this week.

UNITY, Sask. — Shareholders of Northwest Terminal Ltd. are raising alarm bells after company leadership barred members of the press from attending its upcoming annual general meeting, despite mounting financial losses and rising executive compensation.

The scenic course located between Eatonia and Leader has announced plans to construct a brand-new clubhouse, with demolition of the existing mobile-home facility set for Sept. 1. Groundbreaking on the new build will follow immediately after.

The project comes with a $400,000 price tag, with financing already secured through Sandhills Credit Union in Leader. However, club officials say support from the wider community will be essential to help bring the vision to life.

TURTLEFORD, Sask. — One of Saskatchewan’s most wanted has been arrested after a coordinated interprovincial effort by RCMP units.

Matthew Heidt, previously listed among the province’s top-priority wanted offenders, was taken into custody by Coutts RCMP and is scheduled to appear in court in Turtleford, Sask., on June 9. He faces charges listed under Information #90429990.
