Manitoba fuel supply increases, repairs begin on Imperial Oil pipeline

The Manitoba Government says Manitoba's fuel supply has increased since repairs began on the Imperial Oil pipeline south of St. Adolphe.
    
The line, between Gretna and a Winnipeg terminal, was shut down 10 days ago after inspections earlier in the year led the company to make the proactive decision to carry out preventative maintenance to ensure the continued integrity of the line.

"This is a dark time in Manitoba." Those words from Premier Wab Kinew who offered his condolences and words of encouragement during a news conference Monday after RCMP provided an update on the five homicides that took place Sunday in and around Carman and the R.M. of Cartier. 

Group eyes land for supportive housing project in Morris

It's been decided. The first regional facility built by Red River Supportive Housing - Logement Supervisé de la Rivière Rouge Inc., will go up in Morris.

The housing complex would be the first step, and serve as the hub, to enhancing housing, social, economic, and community services in the Town of Morris and RMs of Morris and Montcalm. 

Morris Deputy Mayor, Chris Hamblin, chairs the group and says they are looking to attach it to the existing arena and Multiplex. They are eyeing a plot of land on the west side of the Multiplex currently owned by the Valley Ag Society.

Authorities confirm largest CBSA narcotics seizure ever on Canadian Prairies at Boissevain Port of Entry

It's being billed as the largest Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) seizure of illegal narcotics to ever occur in the Canadian Prairies, and it happened only a few hours from Estevan.

At a news conference in Winnipeg on Wednesday morning, authorities announced officers at the Boissevain Port of Entry discovered and seized 406 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine following a search of a commercial truck on January 14th. According to SFC Ken MacGregor, that's about 4 million illicit doses with a street value of over $50 million. 

Winnipeg man arrested in Morden after brandishing firearm at a home

A 30-year-old man from Winnipeg was arrested by Morden police late Sunday afternoon after he was reported to have been threatening people at a home in Morden.

According to police, the caller also indicated the man had pointed a firearm at one of the residents. At the time, the man had left the home, but returned shortly after police arrived.

He was arrested and charged with Pointing a Firearm, Possessing a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Using an Imitation Firearm while Committing an Offence, Uttering Threats and Disobeying a Court Order.

One sent to hospital after RCMP catch four illegally crossing near Emerson

Manitoba RCMP is once again underscoring the potentially deadly effects of winter weather after four people were caught illegally crossing the Canada/U.S. border near Emerson during Saturday morning's stormy conditions. 
    
Police got the call around 7:15 am and found all four men they say had been attempting to cross north into Canada. One of the men was brought to hospital with serious injuries related to the weather.
    
Officers completed additional patrols along the border and no one else was located.
