Celebrating 500 years of Anabaptism: MHV hosts Gareth Brandt art exhibit and talk

The Mennonite Heritage Village (MHV) is gearing up for a meaningful event next week, as they welcome local-born artist, scholar, and poet Gareth Brandt for a special exhibit and talk on Wednesday, June 18th at 7 p.m. 

Brandt will be presenting a temporary art exhibit titled “Radical Roots”, showcasing his original paintings and poetry that reflect on the 500th anniversary of Anabaptism. The exhibit will run from June 18 to June 28. 

Future doctors get a taste of small-town life in Vita, during Rural Week

Residents of Vita and area filled the rest stop picnic shelter Tuesday evening, welcoming two medical students to a community BBQ.  

The young men are first-year medical students attending the University of Manitoba, taking part in Rural Week. The program is coordinated by the school’s Department of Family Medicine, Shared Health and rural regional health authorities, which gives future doctors a hands-on look at healthcare and life in rural communities.

Celebrating a century of Christian education at Providence

Providence University College and Theological Seminary with campuses in Otterburn and Winnipeg, will mark a huge milestone in 2025: its 100th anniversary.  

The journey began in January 1925 with a small group of students gathering in a house on Spence Street in Winnipeg, then known as the Winnipeg Bible Institute.
