We wrap up our series on this year’s HCAA Recognition Award recipients with another deserving duo. Eight area teachers, coaches and volunteers were given the awards in appreciation of their commitment to student athletics in high school sporting endeavours. The awards were handed out at the Annual General Meeting and Luncheon of the Horizon Central Athletic Association.

Workers serve strike notice for LutherCare Communities Group Homes

Community Service Workers (CSWs) who work for LutherCare Communities Group Homes (LCGH) have served strike action notice to their Employer which will took effect at 6:00 pm on April 24, 2024.

“This action will result in some services being withdrawn by our members, and those services will have to be taken care of by management,” says Barbara Cape, President of SEIU-West. “There’s time to avoid the withdrawal of services, but the ball is in the Employer’s court to put forward a fair deal to settle a long overdue collective agreement.”

SaskTel to invest nearly $440 million to enhance connectivity across Saskatchewan in 2024/25

On April 23, SaskTel announced that it will invest $439.8 million of capital across Saskatchewan in 2024/25 and more than $2.0 billion over the next five years. These investments will ensure families and businesses throughout the province have access to the advanced communications networks and technologies they need to connect to the world.

HCAA Recognition Awards - Alisha Demmings, Barb Klapak

Welcome to the third in our series saluting this year’s recipients of the Horizon Central Athletic Association Recognition Awards. Teachers, community volunteers and coaches put in hundreds of hours in developing programs and fostering interest and skill in high school athletes. 

This year’s crop of award recipients is a big part of student success in athletics and in academics and social development.

Junior badminton competition sets the stage for HCAA districts

A two day gathering for HCAA junior badminton athletes has wrapped up in schools across the Horizon School Division. 

These dedicated badminton players are all vying for a spot in the District competition coming up on Thursday, May 2 in Wakaw.

Today, we congratulate two more recipients of the HCAA Recognition Awards bestowed to eight individuals. Teachers and coaches give countless hours to support students in their school athletic endeavours, and these two individuals have gone above and beyond to further their athletes’ aspirations by working in Horizon Central Athletic Division programs.

As is the case each year, the Horizon Central Athletic Division recognizes its own through its Recognition Awards. The Awards were announced at the HCAA Annual Spring Meeting and Luncheon.
