Music 'N’ Mavens daytime concert and lecture series is officially underway at the Rady JCC.
The first musical offering is a real treat: a front-to-back performance of one the best-selling albums of all time, Carole King’s Tapestry, played by a five-piece ensemble led by singer Mal Magorel.
Having been first introduced to the hits of Carole King as a “youngin,” it wasn't until a Music ‘N’ Mavens performance in 2021 alongside fellow vocalist Nadia Douglas that Magorel started to explore the music of King further.
“Most of the songs that were chosen for me (to sing) were from Tapestry,” reflects Magorel. “I started to think ‘Man, this would be a good show in its own right!’”
Leading a five-piece band, Magorel presents the 1971 album front-to-back on Thursday, January 11. Hear iconic tracks such as I Feel the Earth Move, Beautiful, It’s Too Late, and Natural Woman at the Berney Theatre in the Rady JCC Asper Campus.
