Get ready for a fabulous afternoon of music down at the Rady JCC when Lady Muse graces the stage with her band The Inspirations.
Known for her glamorous drag performances and sickening singing chops, the wide-ranging program will tackle everything from cabaret gems to pop anthems.
“Lady Muse is the personification of the divine feminine,” she says in a sit-down interview in the Classic 107 studio. “Lady Muse is every muse who has inspired you in your life. She is the woman who brought you up. She's the woman you saw on your TV screen. She's the woman you want to be and the woman that you're going to be in your future as you become your most idealized self.”
A regular performer at Club 200 and Club Happenings, Lady Muse has done events at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and performed as part of Pride festivities here in the city. This marks her first performance as part of Music ‘N’ Mavens.
“I think we're going to shake things up,” she says. “Mix things up a bit for them, hopefully in a really exciting way.”
Performing alongside her band, The Inspirations – made up of “some of Canada’s best – and best looking – musicians” – they perform through their own distinct “funky” lens.
Queer anthems and icons feature prominently in the program, including selections from Gloria Gaynor, Queen, Dolly Parton, Beyoncé and more.
See Lady Muse and The Inspirations on Tuesday, March 26 in the Berney Theatre. The show begins at 2 p.m.
