This week, the Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg welcomes three finalists to perform alongside the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in the WMC McLellan Competition for Solo Performance.
The prestigious competition awards a total $20,000 in prize monies, providing career funding and performance opportunities to Manitoba-born and Manitoba-educated musicians.
Sam Nadurak is a cellist and composer born in Winnipeg who completed his undergraduate and master's studies at the University of Ottawa. A regular prize-winner in local competitions, Nadurak currently teaches cello privately and frequently serves as a guest musician with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
Sam Nadurak performs the Variations on a Rococo Theme, op. 33 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky with the WSO, under the baton of Julian Pellicano.
The WMC McLellan Competition for Solo Performance Finals take place on Thursday, April 18 at the Jubilee Place Auditorium, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Regular tickets at $40 with special tiered pricing available to those under the ages of 30 and 12.
