The acclaimed American pianist Claire Huangci closes out the Virtuosi Concerts season with an intimate recital titled “Romantic Fantasy.”
Before Huangci takes the bench, local lauded pianist Angela Ng will warm the keys as the Virtuosi Young Artist opening the program.
"I’m excited to play,” says Ng, who will perform the first movement to the Sonata in C, Hob. XVI/50 by Joseph Haydn.
A student of Lydia Wong, Ng just completed her second year at the University of Toronto.
The chance to perform in front of family and friends in her hometown is a welcome one.
“It’s a great opportunity coming back from school,” she says.
The Virtuosi Young Artist also feels inspired by seeing a fellow pianist on the bill.
“Not only do I get to play myself, for someone so well-known and acclaimed,” says Ng. “I also get to see what my career can possibly in the future be like.”
Angela Ng opens for Claire Huangci on Sunday, May 12 at the Muriel Richardson Auditorium in the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
The program begins at 2:30 p.m.
