The Agassiz Chamber Music Festival presents an outpouring of artistry as superb local and international players come together to collaborate on great chamber music.
One of this year’s return performers is violist David Harding, who has been no stranger to the festival over the years.
“I think I did the first festival in 2000,” says Harding, who returns to town for the first time in the post-pandemic years.
A professor of viola and chamber music at Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Mellon University, Harding has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, the United States, Canada, Central America and Australia. He’s been involved in music festivals around the world including those in Ottawa, Seattle, and Edinburgh, and has performed alongside ensembles such as the Pacifica, Dover, Shanghai, and Fine Arts quartets and the Gryphon Trio.
When asked what keeps him coming back to the Agassiz Chamber Music Festival, the answer is a simple one: “I love Winnipeg.”
“Every time I come to this town, I just have a great time,” says Harding. “The audiences are wonderful... it’s great to be here.”
It will be a busy stop for Harding, who performed in the opening night concert and again on Monday.
On Wednesday evening he performs with the Swiss Piano Trio before a final performance Saturday afternoon.
