It's a performance 28-years in the making, as legendary hip-hop group Cypress Hill prepares to take the stage with the London Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday night.
The collaboration originally joked about in a 1996 episode of The Simpsons, has now become a reality due to fan demand and social media outreach.
The American hip-hop group will take the stage on tonight for a special one-night-only performance centred around their acclaimed album, Black Sunday. Known for selling over three million copies in the US and charting for a year in the UK, Black Sunday remains a pivotal work in Cypress Hill's career.
The LSO will showcase unique orchestral arrangements of Cypress Hill’s most iconic tracks, including hits like "Insane in the Brain" and "I Wanna Get High." Cypress Hill, a titan in the hip-hop world with over 20 million albums sold worldwide, expressed their excitement about performing at the prestigious venue.
"It's been something that we've talked about for many years since the Simpsons episode first aired," shared B-Real, also known as Louis Mario Freese, in an interview with the BBC. "So it's very special for us. And it's coming off the heels of our 30th anniversary for our Black Sunday album."
Reflecting on the significance of performing at the Royal Albert Hall, Cypress Hill described it as a "checklist moment" in their career, highlighting the venue’s historical importance. The Simpsons episode, "Homerpalooza," humorously featured Cypress Hill alongside other music stars, setting the stage for this real-life, iconic performance.
