An Estevan football player will look to take their game to the next level as she's trying to get back onto a national team.
Aurora McCutcheon is looking to grab a spot in the U18 Indigenous National Team, as they compete in the U18 Women's Tackle National Championship taking place in Fredericton, NB at the end of the month.
Mark Tribiger, who coaches her on the U18 Estevan Viragoes, says it's a great team to strive for.
I think it's an awesome thing she's doing, she's a real ambassador for the U18 football in Saskatchewan and mostly in Estevan. This is her second year going to be with the team and last year she was the starting quarterback for them and I think she's going to try to keep that spot this year."
Tribiger says she's a skillful player who's a big part of any team she's on.
"She has a very strong work ethic. She's tough on the ball and she's got some good speed and she's a force out there, that's for sure."
Tribiger says he's seen a lot of excitement from McCutcheon as the date comes closer.
"She's excited to go again, last year in the tournament they did pretty good and they look to build on it this year. They were a new team last year and being that they're built up of players from all across Canada, it's they don't get much practice time together."
For the team, the tryout camp is July 14th with those who make it flying out to New Brunswick on the 20th. The tournament lasts from the 24th to the 27th.
