The Borderline Men’s Fastball League held their championship tournament in Plentywood, Montana this past weekend, and the host team would come away as the winners. This is the is the second year in a row the Plentywood Peckers have captured the Borderline title.  

The Peckers opened the tournament with a 13-3 win over the Lake Alma Raiders to start the tournament, setting up a game with the Midale Jays. Other first-round match-ups had the Jays beating the Weyburn Renegades 22-17, and the Gladmar Braves over the Ogema Colts 14-6.  

In the second round, Gladmar played the Ceylon Angels, who finished first in the regular season and earned a bye in the first round. Ceylon would get the win by a final of 8-4. In the other A-Side semi-final, Plentywood routed the Midale Jays 24-2, relegating them to the B-Side.  

On the B-Side, the Weyburn Renegades bounced back from their first-round loss with a 14-2 win over Lake Alma and advanced to take on Gladmar. The Renegades would win that one as well, getting by the Braves 13-9. Meanwhile, Ogema beat Midale 16-6 to advance to the B-Side semi-final.  

On the A-Side, Ceylon would take on Plentywood with the winner advancing to the finals, and the loser getting a second shot at advancing to the finals with a matchup against the winner of the game between Weyburn and Ogema. Plentywood would come out on top in that game, winning 13-0.  

Ceylon would then have to face the Renegades after they got past Ogema 6-4.  

In the B-Side final, Ceylon came out on top, beating Weyburn 9-5, and moved on to a rematch with the Peckers in the championship game. There, Plentywood would come out on top, winning 6-3 to take the championship for the second year in a row.  

The Peckers would also end up sweeping the individual awards as well.  

Mike O’Toole won the George Howard Golden Glove MVP Award and the Maverick David Paul Duffy Most Sportsmanlike Award. The Roger Storle Pitching Award was presented to Ricky Darvis from Plentywood.
