Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions have returned to Strathmore.
The City of Calgary decided to bring back restrictions as work is underway to fix the Bearspaw feeder main in the city.
According to the town, all outdoor water use from residents is no longer allowed besides life-sustaining uses like livestock or businesses that meet health standards like hospitals and restaurants.
The town provided a list of things to avoid during the restrictions:
- Watering lawns, gardens, and shrubs.
- Filling hot tubs, pools, or other decorative features.
- Using water for grading, compaction, or dust control.
- Washing cars on driveways or streets.
- Washing exterior surfaces unless necessary for health or safety reasons.
Voluntary water use is recommended:
- Delay using a dishwasher and washing machine.
- Limit shower times and keep baths shallow.
- Turn off humidifiers and ice machines.
- Turn off the water tap when not in use.
According to the town, there are currently no boil water advisories in effect in Strathmore and water remains safe to drink.
The town posted to Facebook saying, "We know it's been a long summer of restrictions, but every effort to reduce water usage really makes a difference as Calgary works to repair their pipe. Do your best and thank you for your continued efforts."
