It's going to be a weekend full of Western fun in Chestermere.
Alberta Day was created by the Alberta government as a celebration of the anniversary that we became a province way back in 1905.
Chestermere Mayor Shannon Dean says this is the first-ever event in Chestermere.
"It's a bit of an inaugural Alberta Day event. That was one of the things that our event staff was excited about that they wanted this to have a different feel."
According to Dean, he's excited about members of the community coming down for the celebration, "This one is going to be all about that Western theme. We have some improv actors that are going to be coming out and they are going to be time-period actors. We have Guns of the Gold West, they are going to be coming out and doing a bit of a shootout," said Dean.
During the event there will be a petting zoo, food trucks, beer gardens, wagon rides, and so much more.
"I think the more that you can bring the community together, the better. Chestermere is still known to have that small-town feel and when you have those fond memories or those fond thoughts of small towns what you think of are those events."
The event will be held at the Chestermere Rec Centre from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
