Strathmore RCMP is continuing the search for 28-year-old Elijah Strawberry almost one month following a fatal shooting that took the life of Rocky View County employee Colin Hough.
An unnamed FortisAlberta employee was also injured in the altercation.
The shooting happened on Tuesday (Aug. 6) near Strathmore, with police claiming that the incident was caused by a carjacking that turned violent. RCMP identified two suspects in the shooting, with one of them, Arthur Wayne Penner, being arrested in Edmonton a few days later.
Strawberry is the sole remaining suspect in the investigation and has been at large for several weeks, despite police identifying him and distributing photos to the public. Police even issued a $2,000 reward for information that could lead to Strawberry's arrest which was quickly raised to $10,000.
According to RCMP, Strawberry is described as:
- Light complexion.
- 6 feet 1 inches tall.
- 169 pounds.
- Several arm and face tattoos.
- Brown hair.
Although RCMP said that Strawberry is still in Alberta, they have been working alongside British Columbia and Saskatchewan RCMP, Edmonton and Calgary Police Service, Lethbridge Police Service, Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams, and even provincial sheriffs in the investigation to find him.
