Canadian pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko has won the Leeds International Piano Competition 2024, a prestigious event held from September 11 to 21 in Bradford, England.
Izik-Dzurko’s victory comes alongside awards for the Canon Audience Prize and the Chamber Music Award. He emerged as the top competitor in a field made up of international all-stars, with Junyan Chen and Khanh Nhi Luong taking second and third place, respectively. Kai-Min Chang and Julian Trevelyan completed the top five.
The Canadian performed Johannes Brahms' Concerto No. 2 in B flat major, Op.83 to claim the victory.
Recognized by the CBC in 2021 as one of “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30,” Izik-Dzurko is noted for his interpretative style and musicality. He has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and has appeared in venues such as Wigmore Hall and the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.

The Leeds International Piano Competition, founded in 1961, is held every three years and is known for its rigorous selection process. The recent competition included a virtual first round in 2021, allowing participants to perform from various locations worldwide, while the semi-finals and finals took place in the Great Hall of the University of Leeds and were streamed globally.
Izik-Dzurko’s win at the Leeds International Piano Competition adds to his accomplishments, including First Prize at the 2022 Hilton Head International Piano Competition and the 2022 Maria Canals International Music Competition.
