Kindersley, SK — Due to positive feedback from local residents, the Town of Kindersley has extended the deadline for its one-time Preventative Plumbing Subsidy. Homeowners now have until April 1, 2025, to apply for the program, aimed at disconnecting storm drainage systems like weeping tiles, sump pits, and eavestrough downspouts from the municipal sewer system.

The subsidy program was launched to help reduce the strain on Kindersley’s sewer infrastructure by encouraging residents to redirect stormwater away from the town’s sanitary system. Here’s how homeowners can take advantage of the extended program:

How to Apply

  1. Consult with a Certified Plumber
Homeowners must first consult a certified plumber licensed in Kindersley to determine which preventative plumbing solutions are needed. While residents may choose any licensed contractor, the work must be completed by a certified plumber.

  2. Proceed with Installation
After consultation, the property owner can move forward with installation between the eligible period of June 1, 2024, and October 31, 2024. Homeowners are responsible for purchasing supplies, coordinating with the plumber, and handling full payment.

  3. Submit Your Application
Complete the application form carefully and review all sections. For questions about eligibility, contact the Town of Kindersley at 306-463-2675.

  4. Provide Required Documentation
Submit a copy of the paid invoice from the certified plumber along with at least two photos showing the storm infrastructure before and after the work. This will serve as proof of completion for the subsidy program.

  5. Inspection (If Needed)
The Town may require an inspection if additional verification is needed. If documentation appears unclear or insufficient, a representative may visit the property to ensure the plumbing meets program requirements.

  6. Receive Your Subsidy
Once the application and supporting documents are reviewed, the Town of Kindersley will issue a cheque for the approved subsidy amount to the property owner.
