The Town of Strathmore is allowing residents to trade a ticket for a toy.

The Toys for Tickets program runs until December 13.

"Every person who's issued a Municipal Enforcement non-moving violation ticket between those dates can pay the fine amount by donating a new, unwrapped toy of equal or greater value to the penalty of their parking ticket," wrote the town on its Facebook page.

All residents have to do is bring their parking ticket along with an unwrapped toy and its receipt to the Strathmore Municipal Building.

The donated toys will be given to the Strathmore & Wheatland County Christmas Hamper Society.

Even if residents don't have a ticket, they can still give a toy to the cause.

"Anyone is welcome to bring new, unwrapped toys to the Strathmore Municipal Building as part of this campaign. All toys left in the lobby Christmas box will be donated as well," added the town.

Residents can donate to the Christmas Hamper Society by visiting here.
