One person is dead after a crash near Drumheller on Thursday (Nov. 14).
RCMP said they responded to reports of a head-on collision at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 836 east of Strathmore.
Three local fire departments and EMS also arrived at the scene.
Police discovered that the collision involved a detached semi-truck and a sedan.
The crash led to the highway being shut down for several hours as officers investigated. The highway has since reopened.
A man from Carbon, Alberta who was driving the sedan died at the scene, and two passengers from the semi-truck were sent to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
The driver of the semi-truck only suffered minor injuries and was released at the scene.
Drumheller RCMP is investigating the cause of the crash.
