A huge crowd lined the streets of Ponoka Friday night for the Town's "Kick Off to Christmas" event.

The evening started with the annual Santa Claus Parade which featured over 50 floats, crowds in some spots more than 5-6 deep and of course the celebrity couple, Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Warmer weather also played a factor as many stuck around after the parade for a Christmas tree lighting, music by the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra, and a special holiday themed drone show over the river valley.

Many businesses also stayed open late for the Moonlight Madness shopping event which is also an annual event.

Things will stay busy in Ponoka as later this week the Ponoka & District Health Foundation’s 2024 Enchanted Forest Festival of Trees kicks off on Thursday. This year proceeds from the event will benefit the Ponoka Hospital and Care Center and the Ponoka Community Health Center.
