The U18 AAA Weyburn Gold Wings are off this weekend from league play, but they are still in action, with two games against the Dakota College Lumberjacks who are in town for two exhibition games. The first of the two games was Saturday afternoon, and the Gold Wings skated to a 7-1 win over the collegiate squad at Crescent Point Place.

The Gold Wings were led by Hallie Parada, who would finish the game with a hat trick. Her first goal of the afternoon came just 52 seconds in, with Julia Durr recording the assist.

Durr would then score a goal of her own 3:37 into the first period, with Peyton Halayka and Parada getting the assists. The scoring in the first period would be rounded out by a power play goal from Nola Exner with 6:15 remaining. The assists on the goal were from Kaitlyn Mah and Kiah Shields.

Neither team would score in the second period, but then the Gold Wings started to score again in the third period. It began with Parada's second of the game at the 6:00 mark, with Durr and Scarlett Lindsay credited with the assists on the tally.

Then, at 9:55 Parada would score the hat trick goal, assisted by Halayka and Durr to make it 6-0. The Lumberjacks would reply with 8:27 to go in the period to make it 6-1, but Weyburn put it out of reach with just two minutes left as Makenna Sumners scored an unassisted short-handed goal.

The two teams will meet again Sunday at 2 p.m. at Crescent Point Place.
