The 25th annual Friends Festival Auction is officially up and running. On Thursday night, the Gallery opened its doors to the public and the people and the bids started flowing in.
This year’s auction boasts two floors of exquisite local artwork of every describable variety. Some of the artists whose works adorned the walls of the Gallery during the Members Show and Sale are back with new pieces. Landscape paintings, delicate glasswork, wood etching and creative design, and of course, intricately fashioned wreaths are just some of the pieces up for bids.
There’s a special second floor dim space for illuminated items, including quaint ceramic houses to a lit village display complete with a moving train.
Also available are homemade canned goods, delicious preserves and jams. From lighthearted collectables to magical works of art, it’s all there for browsing and bidding.
The ambience only got better with the marvellous musical presentation by Yanna Yudina-Jeewon, singing both contemporary and timeless Christmas classics. Keep your eyes open for other local musical performers, including this Thursday night’s visit by keyboard virtuoso Ian Elliot.
It’s always a great early start to the holiday season, but it’s on only until December 5. Come on down for a hot chocolate and some winter spirit and great gift giving ideas that support your museum and gallery.
