A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family of a mother and daughter who tragically lost their lives in a collision Friday evening.

The two-vehicle crash happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the intersection of Provincial Road 201 and Provincial Road 306, about 13 kilometres west of Altona.

RCMP say a semi being driven by a 25-year-old man from Brampton, Ontario was travelling eastbound on Provincial Road 201 and failed to stop at the intersection with Provincial Road 306, slamming into an SUV.

The crash claimed the lives of 35-year-old Sara Unger and her eight-year-old daughter, Alexa.

Their family is now asking for prayers as Sara's husband and son face an excruciating journey ahead of them.

"Please pray for Peter and Dominic Unger. They lost their Wife/Mom and Daughter/Sister," said Sara's sister-in-law. "Sara and Alexa, you will be missed."

The 25-year-old driver of the semi-trailer was transported to hospital where he was treated and released.

Pembina Valley RCMP continue to investigate and they say charges are anticipated.
