Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) members could be seen picketing outside of the Moose Jaw post office on Ross Street West this week.
This comes as CUPW, which represented about 55,000 postal workers, went on a nationwide strike last Friday.
Canada Post has already let customers know that they can expect delays in mail and parcel deliveries during the job action as mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered during this time. Canada Post is also saying that no new items of mail will be accepted during the strike.
When the strike is over, Canada Post says that all mail will be delivered as quickly as possible on a first-come-first-serve basis.
CUPW says it wants fair wages, safe working conditions, the right to retire with dignity and the expansion of services at the public post office.
On Tuesday, CUPW and Canada Post met with a special mediator that was appointed by the federal government.
According to a release from CUPW, the mediators met with each party separately and moved between the parties’ rooms to relay issues and to work to find common ground. CUPW says there has been some movement with Canada Post since meeting with the mediators.
