Estevan's City Council officially began its new term on Friday with a swearing-in ceremony, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the city.
Mayor Tony Sernick, along with council members Kirsten Walliser, Shelley Veroba, Brian Johnson, Dave Elliot, Matthew Dubowski, and Tom Mauss, took the oath of office. The first official council meeting is set for Monday night, when the council will begin addressing important issues facing the community.
With the ceremony complete, the council is eager to tackle the challenges ahead. "There’s a lot to do on the list right now," Sernick continued. "The first meeting will give us a clearer idea of what’s on the agenda, but we know it’s going to be busy as we officially get to work."
As the council settles into their roles, they’re looking forward to the busy months ahead. "It’s a quick turnaround," Sernick noted. "But we’re excited to get started and dive into the work."
