A Swift Current native made her fifth appearance on TeleMiracle over the weekend.

13-year-old Ashley Brown raised over $1500 as the telethon brought in over $5.7 million on Saturday and Sunday.

"We did 50/50 pick a square, bake sales and bracelet sales at my school," Brown said. "Virtual trivia and an online fundraising page."

The cause has become really important to Brown.

"They help people's medical needs," she said. "If I were in that situation or anybody that I knew I wouldn't want people to not have enough money to get a wheelchair or travel expenses or stuff like that. I just like that they help with that for people."

She played Shine by Collective Soul and says her comfort on stage has increased throughout five years of performing.

"For the first few years it was fairly nerve-wracking to perform," Brown said. "Now I know what is happening and everybody is just so nice there on set. Now I'm way more confident. I was barely nervous this year."

Brown joined Swift Current's Faye ShengSwift Current's Kylie StockSwift Current's Jesse Genns, and Demaine's Evan Baxter as local talent performing at TeleMiracle 49.
