Kids in Weyburn who love to swim can once again take advantage of the opportunity to swim for free from 1:15 to 4:15 p.m. on three afternoons each week of summer at the Weyburn Leisure Centre, thanks to sponsorships from three local organizations.

The Weyburn Agricultural Society sponsors the kids' free swims on Monday afternoons; the Rotary Club of Weyburn sponsors the kids' free swims on Wednesday afternoons; and the Young Fellows Club of Weyburn sponsors the kids' free swims on Friday afternoons.

Parents or guardians with children nine years old or older who don't want to get into the water can pay $2 non-swimmer admission fee. Adults who do want to swim can pay $8.50.

Children eight and under must have an adult or responsible youth, age 14-plus supervise them at the facility. Children five and under must be within arms' reach of an adult or responsible youth age 14-plus in the water with them at all times.

The last day of the free swims is Friday, August 22nd.

More about the WLC:

The outdoor amenities at the Weyburn Leisure Centre include a 25 metre, six-lane pool with a deep end of 1.5-3.6 metre maximum depth. The deep end also features a 1 metre diving board and a 3 metre high diving board as well as a climbing wall. There are also twin speed-slides dropping into 1.5 metres depth.

The 'beach-entry', which includes three spray features, leads to a shallow end with a maximum depth of 1.4 metres. There is also a 0.25 metre baby pool, near to but separate from the beach entry.
