An annual southwest rodeo that's been taking place for nearly half a century is set to take place this weekend with CCA-sanctioned events, activities for kids, live music, fresh food, and much more.
The 49th Kyle Community Rodeo kicks off on Friday evening with a family-friendly cabaret featuring live music from Bakersfield and wraps up on Sunday night.
Lisa O'Connor, community development director for the Kyle & District Recreation Board, shared that rodeo action begins at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
"We have tie-down roping, breakaway roping, novice bull riding, steer wrestling, junior girls barrel racing, wild horse races, and mutton busting during intermission," she said.
A slow-pitch tournament, beach volleyball, bouncy castles, a free pancake breakfast, and a roast beef supper at the Kyle Elks Community Hall are just a few of the activities taking place this weekend.
"We have the Kyle and District Chamber of Commerce Trade Fair at the Elks Community Hall, and that's free admission," added O'Connor. "We have another rodeo dance on Saturday, featuring 40oz Philosophy Saturday, that's no minors and $10 for admission."
Rodeo admission is $15 per person, while children ages 12 and under get in for free.
