The Dino Dash was a stomping success at Ad Penner Park this past weekend.
On Saturday, Sept. 13, Safe Families Canada - Steinbach (SFC) hosted its annual fundraiser in support of local families.
Supporting local
“It was absolutely amazing, an incredible sight to see,” says the director of SFC, Sue Doerksen.
With nearly 20 inflatable dinosaurs thundering across the park, the hilarious sight drew spectators of all ages.
Doerksen says each dinosaur was sponsored by a business, church or individual.
“When they sponsor a dino, we put one in the race.”
She notes SFC supplies the costume, while the racer supplies the shenanigans.
“This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and we just want to celebrate with our community,” Doerksen explains.

A win for all
The day included bounce houses, inflatable axe-throwing, horse rides, and a petting zoo, all free for families to enjoy.
At one point, a dinosaur even rode a horse through the park, a crowd favourite that had everyone laughing.

The community came out in a big way, and the fundraiser brought in $28,600.
Doerksen explains part of the money raised will go toward their operating costs.
“This was an incredible event, and it just gets better and better every year.”
