A new fieldhouse and library is on the way for a southwest community in Calgary.
Ground has been broken for a community fieldhouse and public library at the Belmont Civic Site, near the intersection of Creekside Blvd S.W., and 210 Avenue S.W.
“Very excited to put shovels in the ground for the new Belmont Fieldhouse and Library,” said Dan McLean, Ward 13 Calgary Councillor, in a Facebook post.
The fieldhouse will feature a multi-sport field and a FIFA-sized indoor-turf field, with amenities such as dressing rooms, gender-neutral washrooms, and a viewing area.
The library will include public meeting rooms, a children’s library, outdoor learning spaces, collection shelving, and open seating areas.
The City of Calgary received funding approval for the fieldhouse in 2021 through the Revised Capital Investment Strategy.
In 2022, funding for a new library in Belmont was allocated through the Calgary Public Library Investment Program.
The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
