Work will start shortly on a $1.9 million dollar upgrade at Thomas Greenway Middle School in Crystal City.
The federal and provincial governments have announced plans to invest more than $13.1 million to upgrade ventilation systems in 32 schools and health-care facilities across Manitoba.
The middle school in Crystal City will get a new boiler and an upgrade to their ventilation system.
Prairie Spirit S-D secretary-treasurer Jill Mangin says demolition work will begin shortly. “The boiler was aging and needs to be replaced. It was the original unit that was installed when the school was built.”
“Demolition will start as soon as possible this spring, so the boiler is ready for the next heating season this fall.”
Across Manitoba the Government of Canada is investing $10,469,172 in these projects, while the Manitoba government is investing $2,697,399 toward eligible project costs.
“The tendering process is being handled by the province because of the scope of this project,” said Jill Mangin.
