Jaime Foxx is crediting God for his recovery after a medical emergency landed him in hospital earlier this year.
The 55-year-old was hospitalized in April and kept quiet until this past weekend when he posted a video on his Instagram account.
"First of all, I want to say thank you to everybody that has prayed for me and sent me messages. I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back," Foxx said in the video. "I went through something I thought I would never ever go through."
According to The Christian Post, there were several reports that Foxx suffered a stroke. In the video, he touches on his medical condition but does not confirm what he experienced.
"I know a lot of people were waiting or wanted to hear updates. To be honest, I didn't want you to see me like that. I want you to see me happy, laughing, cracking a joke, doing a movie. I didn't want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through."
Foxx continues, saying his sister, Deondra Dixon, and his daughter Corinne saved his life.
"Thanks to them, to God, to a lot of great medical people, I am able to leave you this video."
During the silence, Jamie says rumours were spread, saying he was blind and paralyzed. He goes on to quash those rumours.
"I did go through hell and back, and my recovery had some potholes as well, but I'm coming back, and I'm able to work," said Foxx. "I want you to remember me for the jokes I crack, the movies I make, and the songs I sing. I am here on earth because of God!"
Fans, friends and colleagues flooded the post wishing him well and praying for continued recovery.
"God is Great! God is Able! God is Willing! Still Praying! Gonna Keep Praying! In Jesus' Name! Hallelujah! Amen!" said overseerprophet on Instagram.
Viola Davis commented saying, "God is GOOD!!!!!!!! Sending love, Jamie."
Foxx's latest project, God Is a Bullet, debuted last month and can now be found on several streaming platforms.
