A teenager is dead after being struck by a falling tree and a man is dead after being struck by lightning as a powerful storm moved through the eastern U.S.

CBN reports that police in Anderson, South Carolina, say that the 15-year-old boy had arrived at his grandparent's home during the storm when a tree fell on him as he exited a car. Authorities say that Evan Christopher Kinley was pronounced dead at the scene WLOS reported.

A 28-year-old man in Florence, Alabama, was killed after being struck by lightning.

The large storm spread across 10 states from Tennessee to New York, with 29.5 million people under a tornado watch at one point, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm ripped off roofs and flooded streets throughout many regions.
