Last week the federal and provincial levels of governments announced a $1.5 million investment to the Keystone Agricultural Producers (KAP) for the FarmSafe Manitoba program, to promote safe and healthy farm operations in Manitoba.

Ice fishing enthusiasts know about the Pelican Lake Ice Fishing Derby that takes place every spring the first weekend in March, this year Saturday, March 2nd. 

In the past, folks would bring their prize catch of the day to the measuring station to get their names and the size of their fish on the board. 

The Manitoba Wildlife Federation has been meeting with their affiliate clubs across the province to learn about wildlife population numbers, highlights and challenges over the past year.

What started out as an idea from a group of fellas in the Treherne area wanting a place to share and show their classic cars and trucks, turned into a full-fledged museum that now boasts 111 vehicles, and other treasures, from local residents!

Treherne's Second Chance Car Museum began when a local car collector and his wife needed a proper home for their personal collection, says museum manager, Craig Soldier.  "Discussions took place and encouragement took place, a building was built, and the museum was started!"

This week's announcement of a case of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) documented in a white-tailed deer harvested in the Winkler area has hunters feeling nervous. However, this case is the anomaly as to what's been documented so far.

A very important initiative for Manitoba AG DAYS is bringing agriculture to life for our young people.  And one way Ag Days does this is through Agriculture in the Classroom, with junior high students have a morning tutorial on the Ag industry, and then follow a series of clues throughout the Keystone Centre in the afternoon to solve a puzzle. All the while they're learning more about all the amazing facets of the agriculture in our province, in our country, and across the globe.

The Manitoba Wildlife Federation has a very successful 2023 with all their programming, clinics and events!

With approximately 90 active affiliate clubs across the province, and over 15,000 members, the MWF represents a large population that loves the outdoors by way of hunting, fishing, trapping, boating, hiking and everything in between!

Remember back not that long ago when community came together at Farmer Brown's farmyard for his auction sale, and two auction rings would rotate throughout the yard, the larger equipment featured in one ring, and the smaller pallets and bundles in the second ring?

And who can forget the conversations with your neighbors over the burger, pie, and coffee! Or a friend you haven't seen for some time!  "How's it goin'? How're the kids?"

Covid-19 changed all that!
