A special shout-out to the amazing students in Mr. Giesbrecht's grade 1/2 class who were so much fun, and had some great interviews.

We really loved the entry we got from a parent of one of the students:

We had such a wonderful time with the students. It was truly heartwarming to see their excitement as they received gifts from our amazing sponsors!

Community Spirit on Display

Plum Coulee is about to come alive this weekend as residents prepare for the annual Town-Wide Garage Sale. Organizer and local resident Vicki Hildebrand says this is one of the most exciting weekends of the year for the town. “We’re going to explode the town,” Vicki laughed. “Plum Coulee won’t be very quiet — it’s going to be a party!”

One cookie at a time, our community is making a difference. From April 28 to May 4, Tim Hortons locations in Winkler and Morden will once again be serving up their beloved $2 Smile Cookies, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation (BTHC Foundation).

Last year’s campaign raised an incredible $40,000, and organizers are hopeful the community will rally even more support in 2025.

The Pembina Valley came together in a big way on Thursday during the Food for All fundraising food drive, supporting the vital work of the Many Hands Resource Centre in Morden. Broadcasting live from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Gardenland Co-op, the event encouraged community members to drop off non-perishable food items and cash donations to help feed local families in need.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, over $4,000 was collected, with every dollar and food item going directly to Many Hands.

A local organization that’s helping fight hunger around the globe is inviting the community to enjoy a warm plate of pancakes — and a chance to make a big difference.

Southman Gleaners will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser this Saturday, April 26, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at their facility at 24 Reinfeld Street North, just two miles east of Winkler. The event is by donation, and proceeds will support the organization’s mission to dehydrate and ship vegetables to people in need worldwide.

The Pembina Climate Action Network (PCAN) is inviting families and residents to the 2025 Sustainability Fair and Morden Thrift Store Fashion Show on Saturday, April 26th, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at St. Paul's United Church in Morden.

This free, family-friendly event celebrates with activities, education, and a unique fashion show, all focused on encouraging sustainable living practices in the Pembina Valley.

A strong community is built not just on shared spaces, but shared values. And this Thursday, April 24th, Morden residents are invited to live those values by supporting the Food for All fundraiser at Gardenland Co-op, running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Hosted by CFAM Radio 950, Country 88, and The Eagle 93.5, this important event raises both non-perishable food items and cash donations for Many Hands, a local organization supporting people experiencing food insecurity in the region.

The Well of Plenty Fish Fry Fundraiser is back and happening this Thursday, April 24th at the Pembina Thresherman’s Museum. The event features a pre-order lunch and a drive-thru supper from 4:30 to 7:00 PM — with all proceeds going to support life-changing projects in Malawi, Burundi, and East Congo, Africa.

Spring is officially here, and Many Hands Resource Centre in Morden is celebrating by launching its Community Garden program — now at a new location on 1st Street, north of the the baseball fields.

Mariyam Tsygankova from Many Hands shared her excitement about the project, emphasizing the garden’s many benefits for individuals, families, and the community as a whole.
