Winter in Saskatchewan means it is ice fishing season
With ice fishing season under way, anglers can reel in the fun. Troy Kincaid, an experienced angler and 2nd vice president of the Weyburn branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, says you can expect to catch a variety of fish, which changes depending on where you are. If you are new to the sport his advice is to dress warm and suggests all you really need is bait, a rod, reel and a good hook.
If you don’t have a motorized auger, you can still make do with a hand drill or hatchet, Kincaid says, until you’re reacy to make the $100 investment.
