The Winnipeg Police Service says a missing 82-year-old man has been found.

The man was last seen in the area of Windsor Park in Winnipeg at approximately 1 a.m. on July 3.

Police activated a silver alert around 4:30 a.m., asking the public for help in locating the man. About an hour later the WPS sent out another alert saying he had been safely located.

A silver alert is issued when a senior or vulnerable person goes missing.

Confidence federal public servants have in their senior managers has fallen in recent years, a new survey suggests.

The 2024 Public Service Employee Survey said 55 per cent of public servants have confidence in senior management at their department or agency, down from 64 per cent in 2022 and 68 per cent in 2020.

Almost two-thirds of respondents in the new survey said senior managers in their department or agency model ethical behaviour.

The bassist for a Winnipeg band and his partner are dead after a Canada Day crash on a Manitoba highway.

Indie pop band Royal Canoe says bass player Brendan Berg died in the crash a day before his 43rd birthday, along with Olivia Michalczuk.

RCMP say they responded to a head-on crash on Tuesday afternoon north of Swan River, in western Manitoba.

They say a southbound vehicle veered over the centre line and hit another vehicle that's believed to have been parked, causing it to roll over.

Chris Dropko hadn’t heard of arboriculture when his wife first mentioned it in conversation.

The Dropkos had served in ministry for a decade, but when they felt the Lord was leading them on to something else the idea just casually came up.

“My wife said I should look into arboriculture,” Dropko recalls. “I said, ‘What is that? Are we making arbours?’ And she said, ‘No, it’s got something to do with ropes and chainsaws and climbing trees.’ That was it. I was sold!”

Imagine coming to the house of a friend who has invited you over to enjoy a meal. You finish the delicious meal and then listen to some fine music and visit for a while. Finally, you stand up and get your coat as you prepare to leave.

But before you leave you reach into your pocket and say, "Now, how much do I owe you?" What an insult! You don't do that with someone who has graciously given you a meal.

Isn't it strange, though, how this world is running over with people who think there's something they must do to pay God back?

A 35-year-old man is facing weapon and drug-related charges after the keen observation of a mall employee over the weekend. 

On June 30, a mall employee saw a male putting a gun into his satchel. Security were made aware and kept a safe eye until police arrived. 

Around 7:15 p.m., officers from East District responded to the report of a man seen with a firearm at a shopping centre in the 1200 block of St. Mary’s Road. No injuries were sustained and no threats were made. 

Extreme heat is expected for southern Manitoba, including the City of Winnipeg in the coming days. 

At 3:17 p.m. on July 2, Environment Canada issued a heat warning for southern Manitoba. 

"A hot and humid air mass will move into southern Manitoba on Thursday with the most humid weather of the summer so far expected by Friday," the warning read. 

Relief is expected to come by Saturday as a cold front tracks through the province on Friday night.

Residents are reminded to drink water and keep blinds closed to help beat the heat. 

Update: Highway 3 east of Carman has reopened following a collision on Wednesday morning. 

The closure lasted just over an hour. 

Previously: Highway 3, five kilometres east of Carman is closed on Wednesday morning.

The closure is due to a motor vehicle collision. 

One witness told CHVN it looks to be a fairly serious collision.

There is no word on what caused the collision or any injuries.

Starting in Brazil and making a stop in Edmonton, Alta. before coming to Winnipeg, Elton DaSilva has had a long journey in ministry and his latest stop is Camp Arnes. 

While DaSilva took over the Executive Director role in March 2025, he has always been a part of missions. "My parents were both missionaries in Bolivia, and then they were sent to Canada as missionaries," DaSilva said. "I was born in Brazil and close to the Amazon, and dad was a part of a very large church in Brazil and they sent us as missionaries to Portuguese-speaking people in Edmonton."
