PRAY: Missionaries kidnapped in Haiti, Canadian and 5 children among them

Over a dozen missionaries are still in captivity in Haiti, and their mission organization is requesting "urgent prayer."

Christian Aid Ministries (CAM) says that 16 people were kidnapped on Saturday while they were visiting an orphanage on Saturday.

"We are seeking God’s direction for a resolution, and authorities are seeking ways to help," CAM says in a press release Sunday afternoon.

The group of 17 includes a Canadian citizen, five children, as well as seven women and five men from the United States.

Outside of Christ Church in The Pas, Manitoba stands a tall red mailbox. Inside of it are period products. The church's leader says this is much needed, as many women cannot afford to buy it for themselves.

Israel may allow some tourists beginning November 1

Tourists may once again be allowed into Israel within a couple of weeks, but Canadians may have to wait a while longer.

For the most part, the Times of Israel explains, tourists have been banned from the country since the beginning of the pandemic. In May of 2021 very limited numbers of tourists were allowed to begin entering as part of organized tour groups. 

'I need to be reminded of the treasure, the value of the gospel every day'

For people who feel overwhelmed with the size of the Bible, there is a new video series that's helping connect all the pieces. 

"I didn't grow up in the church or hearing the gospel," says Murray McLellan, the Lead Pastor of Grace Fellowship in Saskatoon, Sask. "That's why I have a heart for people like me whom God was not even on the radar."

McLellan says he wouldn't have called himself an atheist growing up as he didn't even take time to consider the idea or theology of God. His mother went to church but no one else in the family did.
