Warriors take first win of the preseason over Broncos

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. – The Warriors notched their first win of the preseason at the InnovationPlex on Friday night. 

The first period showcased some special teams action. The Broncos’ penalty kill was on display first after Brock Burch took a minor penalty for hooking less than a minute into the period. Fans got their first look at the Warriors’ penalty kill after Gage Nagel was assessed a minor penalty for delay of game just past the halfway mark of the frame.

Elke values opportunity to meet prospects, veterans at Warriors Training Camp

The 18th overall pick at the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft, Kash Elke, is in town for his first WHL training camp. 

“This organization is awesome,” said Elke. “Just getting to meet some of the new guys [and] getting to meet the vets, overall, the weekend has been great.”

In 29 games with the Humboldt Broncos U15AA team last season, Elke tallied 33 goals and 33 assists for a total of 66 points.

Elke describes himself as a big, 200-foot hybrid player with great vision who can make anything happen around the ice, similar to current Warriors’ captain, Lynden Lakovic.

Thompson looking to build relationships at Warriors Training Camp

The second overall selection from the 2025 US Priority Draft, RJ Thompson, is in Moose Jaw this week for his first WHL training camp. 

“It’s been super fun,” said Thompson. “I’ve had a great experience so far.”

After attending Moose Jaw Warriors Holiday Inn Express Development Camp in May, Thompson says he was able to form relationships with other Warriors prospects, including fellow first-round draft pick Kash Elke.

Warriors hire alumni Evanoff as Goaltending Coach

MOOSE JAW, Sask. – The Moose Jaw Warriors have hired alumni Adam Evanoff as the organization’s goaltending coach. 

“We are excited to announce Adam Evanoff as our new goaltending coach,” said General Manager Jason Ripplinger. “Adam will bring enthusiasm and a positive attitude to our organization. We look forward to watching Adam grow in his new position.”

Evanoff, from Penticton, British Columbia, played with the Moose Jaw Warriors from 2017 to 2020 before finishing his WHL career with the Victoria Royals.

Warriors announce schedule for 2025 Training Camp

The Moose Jaw Warriors are excited to announce the schedule for the 2025 Training Camp presented by KCS Marketing. 

Training Camp kicks off on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, with registration and fitness testing. On ice sessions begin on Thursday. The 2025 Training Camp will wrap up on Sunday, August 31, with the team’s annual Grey and Red Intrasquad game. Entry to the game will be by donation to CMHA Moose Jaw in memory of Warriors’ prospect Ethan Williams and Warriors’ alumni, Rob Trumbley. 

TRADE | Warriors acquire Andresen from Hurricanes

MOOSE JAW, Sask. – The Moose Jaw Warriors have acquired 2007-born forward, Kash Andresen, from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a 2nd round pick at the 2028 WHL Prospects Draft.

“Adding Andresen to our group will provide us with a top 9 centreman who brings size and grit along with some secondary scoring,” said General Manager Jason Ripplinger. “Kash has been in the league for two years and will bring playoff experience along with solid leadership qualities.”

Warriors add Trefny, Eriksen at CHL Import Draft

The Moose Jaw Warriors have added two Import players to their roster through the annual CHL Import Draft. With the Warriors’ first selection, they chose Czech forward Jan Trefny (5’10”, 168lbs) 65th overall. 

In 29 games with HC Litvinov Chemopetrol Jr. B, Trefny recorded 20 goals and 15 assists for 35 points. With Czechia’s U17 team this year, Trefny added three goals and two assists for five points through 11 games. 

“Adding Trefny will give us more depth, skill, and speed up front as we continue to build our prospect pool,” said General Manager Jason Ripplinger. 

Nine Warriors and alumni invited to NHL Development Camps

Nine Warriors current players and alumni have been named to Development Camp Rosters with five different NHL teams. 

After being drafted 27th overall at the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, Lynden Lakovic will be attending his first development camp with the Washington Capitals. Through 47 games this season, Lakovic led the team in goals and points with 27 goals and 31 assists for 58 points.
